Jessie Dodington is a visual artist working in oil, watercolor and drawing media. She graduated with a BFA from Mount Allison University, New Brunswick, Canada in 2008 and moved to Portales in 2010 with her better half, a biochemistry professor.
Her work has been exhibited in group and solo shows in New Brunswick, Colorado, New Mexico and internationally. Among her many art adventures was a five week artist residency at Elsewhere (a living museum set in a three-story former thrift store) in Greensboro, NC. Other art adventures include her multi-day camping and painting excursions around the state. Dodington currently teaches as resource faculty in Fine Art at Eastern New Mexico University and is an active member of the Plein Air Painters of New Mexico, New Mexico Art League, Portales Art Guild and the New Mexico Watercolor Society.
She recently illustrated the textbook, Biology: An Invertebrate Perspective by Ken Cradock and taught the “Science in Art Project Series” for ENMU’s STEM program. Her future goals include obtaining a Masters of Fine Arts, continuing to travel, participate in residencies and exhibit.
